Antony - Aside from Canada, we cannot buy the 2013 Mitsubishi here yet - it hasn't even been announced (and probably won't be.)

LEAF leasing just exploded overnight in ATL (thanks to the word spread about the $5K state credit.) We don't even wave to each other anymore (plus the Indian people don't really care for this stuff I guess, so I just gave up...)

It's very sad for us here in GA. They were just getting ready to roll out a nice set of L2s and the first L3s in the state and now we're again stuck in the metro...

The actual "car sales" will take a while before Tesla makes any money off them... The green credits it sells is what makes it slightly profitable, the recent stock price is the reason why they're sitting on the billion dollars in cash, and Toyota giving away the Freemont plant is why Tesla is able to build anything outside of a mechanic's garage. It's all good, they (and we) are very lucky but without those factors and gov't help, and relying on "car sales" alone, they would be just a tiny, little footnote in history... Let's keep that in mind.

Hey Bret - You're missing one point though... You get incentives taken off only once for one BMW and twice for the two LEAFs. That's an extra $10K difference in CA and $12.5K in GA, for example. I just thought I'd point that out in this theoretical argument... 1 vs. 2 come pretty close then.

Of course if you want to compare the current BMW price to that of a LEAF from two years ago then I have no arguments...

Why wouldn't you add all black Tesla S for the night on the town and a Tesla Roadster for the quick weekend run into the mountains?

@John - With all due respect, the size of this car is extremely small, so it's probably what Douglas was referring to...

There are places where golf carts are very desirable and it's the only mode of transportation you'd need and the same would apply to this car - it's a very niche offering due to its size. I wouldn't mind adding this to my fleet but having room for more than one passenger would certainly be nice.

They have an extra billion sitting in the account from unprecedented stock sales - not a good move, Tesla... getting greedy for no reason.

These utilities are monopolies and can hardly be described as "capitalistic..."

That's great and people like you will drive these utilities to the ground (unless their armies of lawyers will have something to say about that...)
