So, it uses engine as "brakes"? With Atkinson cycle, that is NOT exactly very effective....

"but in the end, you will have saved the amount of fuel it would have taken to travel 11 miles"

Not if the heat is on. Then your so called "fuel" saved is much lower.

Or even worse, you started with full battery and you are coming down a big hill, instead of NOT using any gasoline, the PIP will actually turn on the engine to "burn off" the excessive electricity regen.

No other plugin cars have that type of behavoirs today...

You are right. My Mistake.

C-Max doesn't use ecoboost in the US.. I meant to say Escape. Since my company's car fleet are all Ford, they are either C-Max, Fusion or Escape. I have driven them all...

I think Annatar has expressed his "ideal" many times already, the ONLY electric car he will drive if it is a "station wagon" with a 6-speed manual transmission.

If Tesla build just one for him, he would have jumped onboard by now. In fact, having a 6-speed manual on a Tesla is doable but "pointless"...

Tesla is actually a hatchback, not a traditional sedan.

Tesla doesn't have manual or auto transmission.

But NASCAR races are so loud that some of my coworkers who go to the race wearing earplugs...

Well, they can at least change the pace car and the emergency or tow truck to electric.

Battery swap is the probably the only way they can get a BEV competing in that race. But it would be nice if one of those BEV an whip a 800hp NASCAR. But since the EV has no ICE, it certainly won't be limited in "horsepower" according to the NASCAR rules.

Who is going to invest in it if its business model has significant problem?

I think Blink has enough coverage now it should just ask for a member monthly fee and allow all its members to use "unlimited" amount of charges but limit each charging to only 2-4 hrs at a time (cost more to stay on afterward). That way, it will prevent "hoggin" and then allow people to buy the charge at "bulk rate"...

I think everyone is waiting for the thinfilm solar. Once that happens, you can make it really cheap and potentially covering the car without added significant cost. At that point, it is a no brainer to add that feature.

But currently, it is just not cost effective....

Cu to Al?

Most of the power lines and all the power lines to home are already AL stranded wires. Most of the service to home wires are also AL already...

NO reason why a "properly" designed Al stranded wires can't be used instead of copper in EV infrastructure.

I think hybrid sales varies more with fuel price than plugin sales.

Of course, people will always make an analysis on cost.

I think some of more frequently asked questions on EV owners are:

1. How far can you go?
2. How much does the car cost?
3. How much does the battery cost?
4. How often do you have replace the battery?
5. How much has your electricity bill gone up since you bought the car?

I don't think any of them ask about the gas saved. Those 5 questions are usually what keep the potential buyers away. I have to answer them all the time.
