Commented On: Charging Etiquette Fail: Why Electric-Car Owners Resent Plug-In Hybrids

First of all, I'm not going to take the bait as a BEV driver and allow myself to be put in an adversarial relationship with my PHEV cousins, even though the press appears to be egging us on. I applaud all pluggers.

I look forward to the day when there are enough charging stations installed that no one need worry about finding a place to refuel.

I remember the gas shortage of the late '70s with long lines, odd/even plate days, and sometimes no gas at all.

Electric car fuel is abundant and everywhere. We just don't have enough dispensers....yet.

Commented On: Why One-Third Of Electric-Car Buyers Might Not Buy Another

Heck yes I'd buy another one. In fact, there's no way I'd ever buy a car that doesn't allow most miles to be electric. The Focus Electric I drive daily is by far the best car I've ever owned. A true joy to drive. With its 75 mile range, it easily meets all of my needs, and with more public charging stations going in every day, it just gets better. By the time we need to replace our family minivan, I'll be looking for a plug in hybrid that will do all local miles on electricity and only need gas for the occasional road trip.

I leased a Focus Electric because I wanted an EV that looked like an ordinary car. I did NOT want some goofy looking thingr to show off my green cred. The Focus Electric is a great looking car and it drives wonderfully. Very quiet on the freeway and well planted on mountain roads. Lots of torque make it fun and it's loaded with features normally found in cars in the high $30k range. After 7 months with the car, I still eagerly look forward to every minute behind the wheel.

It's a wonderful car to drive. It's loaded. It's darn good looking. I'm in for one, even though it's not the best deal. I wish it were sooner, but it will be worth the wait. I'm OK with the range. The 6 kW charger is a big advantage over the Leaf. Most places I go already have charging stations installed, so every time I get into the car it will have a full charge.
