The $49,900 and $57,400 prices have been interchangeably talked about for a long time. It's understood by nearly everyone that the $57,400 is before the tax credit and the $49,900 is after it. No shenanigans involved.

With only 35 miles on full electric, I would have expected lower. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Commented On: Do We Really Need 500-Mile Electric Car Batteries?

I disagree. Anything where building large amounts of infrastructure prior to practicality is going to face resistance in adoption. The only reason Better Place works in Israel is that it has a government mandated monopoly on EVs in that country.

There is also the sticky issue of ownership of batteries being swapped out. You're stuck with a lease/subscription model which increases the price of use in hopeful exchange for a lower up front cost.

It's a little big like gold, it's only valuable because people think it's valuable. With that concept in mind, we do need a 500 mile range, because people think we do.

I for one want to be able to take my new EV home to show off to my friends and family, to be an EV ambassador of sorts. Home is about 420 miles away, so either 200-300 miles with a quick charge option in between, or 500 miles without. I won't consider buying an EV with less than 200 miles as I consider that under achieving.

What this system fails to take into account is that whenever you are in heavy traffic and leave a big gap in between you and the car in front of you, another car will fill that gap. System nullified.

Coda's cars are ugly, electrification is no excuse for an ugly product.
