I toured the BMW factory in SC and the Buick factory in Shanghai. The BMW factory was churning out a couple of hundred Z4s and X-whatevers per day. A few hundred Tesla EVs per week would not seem to be an insurmountable challenge, but even the Volt and Leaf are only at 1000/mo. Will Tesla do it? I think possibly....can I get the plant tour now?

I hate creep. It just takes a few days of driving to get the feel of not having creep.
Removing creep is important in enabling one pedal driving - I can go mile after mile in city traffic without touching the brake!

Charger in Barstow and Stateline and no problem with many EVs. Please make it a nice stop, not a McDonalds or public rest area. Hmmm...business plan developing...

Whoops. I hit "bad stuff" by mistake on my own comment and there is no undo button.

Interesting idea. The utilities seem to be fighting hard to prevent competition and your scheme would be possible if the laws are changed to allow renewable energy to be sold back to the utilities at the prevailing market rate.

There's no need to complain about the RAV4EV being a compliance car. The best EVs on the road today may be the BMW Active E, the Honda Fit and the RAV4 EV. They are all built for short term leasing as CARB compliance cars, but they are so much better than the Volt, Leaf, and the horrible Ford Focus. (Tesla isn't really available to normal humans yet) Rather than complain - give great EV cars the full credit they are due! Oh darn, you can't buy them...oh shucks, I will need to turn it in after 2-3 years of driving to exchange it for an even better EV with better range and lower cost. Boo hoo. :)

You just made me think of something...the problem will not be people charging when they get home. Time of Use rates will make that problem go away - my super off peak rate is half the peak rate - I'd be a fool to charge when I get home from work. But there may be a problem with people plugging in at their employer when they get to work. I can see a surge in demand between 8-9am in the morning with millions of commuters plugging in.

They may want to look at the looks of this incredibly ugly car. I must give kudos for changing from hybrid to all EV.

I like the ad. Be nice to get a poster of it to hang in my office for inspiration.

I've visited a few automobile factories and I'd really get a kick out of seeing DAILY Tesla production numbers. This would give me tremendous insight into the quality and maturity of their manufacturing processes and allow me to judge how quickly they will ramp up from their current low rate initial production to full rate numbers. I suppose I could get this information if I got a job at Tesla, in the right department.
At this time, I can imagine that Tesla has both good days and bad days. As manufacturing defects and other problems are uncovered, Tesla may even have a bad month. Unlike the big blobs in Detroit, Tesla would have a really tough time recovering from the bad press associated with production issues.
