Commented On: 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid: Quick Winter Gas Mileage Test

Not sure what your cars problem is, but my 2013 Ford Fusion Energi, with the heavier battery and a 2nd passenger and newly bought cases of wine, returned 42.3 mpg on a 390 loop from L.A. to Santa Ynez wine country and back. This was clocked after the EV battery ran out.

I'm pretty satisfied with the mpg, that is when I'm not running on solar powered electricity.

And the figure I quoted above(42.4) was gas only. My cumulative mpg is 68mpg including my trips to San Francisico, and plugging in every night at home.

I have a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi. Not that it is broken in (6900 miles), I just drove from L.A. to Santa Ynez wine country(300 miles round trip plus winery criss cross, etc) and my mileage was 42.4mpg and going up the closer I got to L.A.(traffic). I drove using the adaptive 'eco' cruise, between 62 and 78 with a couple of spurts to 100mph, when I wasn't sitting in bumper to bumper traff.

When I'm around town I fill up with gas once every 5 weeks, which used to be every 5 days with my previous hemi, ML500 and LX470. The rest of the time my solar panels fuel my commute, school drop off, etc. I love the multiple hi tech touches in my top of the line, fully loaded Fusion. And I see no problem with my mileage at all.

You mean rear seat room like my Ford Fusion Energi? I'm 6'3 and I love having my daughter chauffeur me around as I sit in back. It may be the most comfortable car interior that I've ever had. Maybe because I love and usually owned German cars which have been on the spartan side.

If no elected official ever does here (they do in Europe), it's because many have been intimidated by the oil lobby for years, for one. And there is very little public pressure since journalists as well, fail to point out the elephant in the room-- time after time.

Hey John, I suppose I might not ever see an article from you on adding a 'fee' to a gallon of gas to reflect the true cost, including wars to protect Middle East oil fields, and the costs of health care for the wounded soldiers in said war, current and future costs of global warming, added health care costs for respiratory related illness because of the burning of oil, etc.

It's 'sweep the rest of the facts under the rug' time.

Agreed. It's pocket rocket time with an EV. No petro burning angst with any of my jack rabbit starts. I gotta slow down...

I will never again buy a car that does not plug-in, ever.

That REX needs at least a couple of hundred extra miles of range in order for this car to make total sense.
