Prius owners who exceed the warrantee of the battery pack have to cough up $2500 to replace a faulty battery pack. Couple that with the $6-7000 premium over a Corolla and the payback period really stretches out. Same goes for other hybrids. They don't make practical sense economically. The VW diesels don't fare much better with their 7 year payback period. And judging by their repair records in Consumer Reports, it's not likely they'll last 7 years with major surgery. It seems like the Chevy Cruze Eco makes the most sense.

Bland. Where's the excitement? By the time one finishes paying off the hybrid premium it'll be time to replace the $2500. battery pack. So where's the savings as well?

Very unprofessional video and a waste of time. Both "talents" dress like slobs and Feder needs a shave. High Gear is stuck in low and I will NOT stay tuned. Embarrassing.

THE most impressive real-world sedan I drove this year wass the Toyota Camry Hybrid - solid, quiet, competent, and reliable come to mind. Getting over 40 MPG also helps add to the satisfaction quotient, and Toyota actually lowered the price to about $27,000 from last year's model. Fantastic!

Yes, it's the right direction for Mitsu. This year is officially the hottest ever recorded and rapid climate change is a no-brainer. That means we'll have to drive more efficient vehicles that don't add to the CO2 overload.
The only other issue is cost. $31,000 for an iMiev or $15,000 for a Scion iQ? People don't want to wait 10 years for payback, even though they have good intentions.

Where are the Hyundai's? I thought the Elantra and Sonata were hot sellers.
