Commented On: Diesel Fuel Derived From Algae Now Testing In 2 VW TDI Models

I ran an old Mercedes on 100% biodiesel for 3 years and loved it. Lots of companies are making biodiesel, and the coop I bought it from converts used cooking oil from chains like Taco Bell (so no farmland is traded for fuel use, and the waste oil doesn't hit the landfill). Solazyme has been working on their very expensive process for many years- I'm curious if they've got it to be cheap enough yet.

It'll be good to have another option in the market, but I can't see why you'd spend that much money for an i8 when a Tesla S performance pack gives you better acceleration, more usable space; and you're not tied to the gas pump. Maybe it's just me, but 20 miles electric range is lame (especially compared to 240).

Oh and don't forget the fade-away retracting door handles. Way cool

The metallic green looks great in person, and would definitely be my choice too. Pictures for some reason just don't show the cool lines of the S. The back end looks like a Maserati, wide and aggressive; and the front hood has subtle ridges which strengthen it and direct airflow past the mirrors to reduce noise. Congrats!

I live in hotter Southern California and have lost a battery bar due to the 110F+ summers that are becoming the norm, translating to about 10 miles lost range at 25,000 miles. Hopefully this summer doesn't reduce it further. The Nissan iphone app is pretty lousy, but if you force it to quit it'll log in quickly the next time (double-click button, hold icon on bottom until a "-" appears, then kill it). Lastly, I've found PlugShare to be a far better app for station location (in my area at least) because it's updated by users for users. Thanks for the update.

Hardly a failed venture considering Tesla created the S from the ground up, going from prototype introduction to delivered cars in 3 years. And winning -

Money well spent by any measure; and it's in the form of loans being paid back, rather than handouts like the billions handed to oil companies in tax breaks and free military escorts for their tankers through mideast waters - I don't want to pay for any of that. What price do you put on the thousands who have died in a useless war? Imagine for a brief second what could have been done with the trillion dollars here at home. Your math is very blind and one sided.

The survey I referred to was for California only, and was completed just one year ago. It won't represent the nation, and I didn't mean to infer that, but it certainly is recent research showing a strong trend in the early adopting segment of EV owners (in CA). For anyone interested here's the link-

Research in California by Edison found that 39% of new electric car owners also installed solar panels to charge their vehicle, meaning 0% coal was involved. Also, studies show that even in the most coal-centric states driving an EV is equivalent to driving a high mileage car. Everyday the electric grid is becoming cleaner as more wind, solar, and natural gas installations replace coal. So you are either ignorant or malicious in your comments.

Very thoughtful, good work Target! Also, the two Kohl's locations I've used have their well-marked chargers on the side of the store where folks don't seem to venture. They use solar panels to generate 40% of the store's needs. I'm curious if Target is installing solar as well; overall this is a great movement to be part of.
