Agreed. The current battery is held in with about 20 bolts and has multiple connections for coolant, control and power. The reason for the many bolts, is that the battery pack is part of the structural design of the car. There is some risk to this each time a swap occurs.
Shouldn't be long before we find out what Elon is talking about.

I was thinking that this new battery technology would be cheaper as well as smaller. This would make it possible for most EVs to have 300 mile range, not just to-days Teslas. Here you are comparing future tech with present day limitations, how real it that?

Don't tar all nuclear options with the same brush.
Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors do not produce long term radio-active waste, run on cheap thorium, and are inherently safe.

Is Tesla suffering a cash crunch? Well, they were last quarter, but now they should be making $20-$30M per month. Reserves may be low but the future looks bright.
Elon said that he would not consider selling his shares of the company before their low cost version is on the market. So selling is not out of the question but seems at least 5 years away.

Although Tesla's approval must be sought, I don't see any compelling reason why Tesla would not approve if asked.

I would suggest that you play it safe and tell Tesla that you do not want to take delivery until after Jan 1. Even if the car is built 2 weeks before, they do not have to bill you, and you do not have to pay until you are ready. Of course this means that you don't get the tax credit for another year, but in your circumstances, taking money out of your retirement now to gain the tax credit is an unwarranted risk.

It is beginning to look like Tesla will not meet it's goal of 5000 cars by the end of the year, but it is clearly ramping up and they doubled last week's output. It won't be the end of Tesla if they fail to make 4000 cars, but they need to keep increasing and get to 100 cars a day.

Boy, what's eat'n your ass. You must be one of those investors that bet big shorting TSLA, and now you are desperate to say any lies to devalue the stock. You deserve to loose every penny!

Tesla is ramping up production as fast as they can while maintaining extremely high quality standards. All it takes is for one little out-of-spec part from a supplier to hold up production until that supplier can re-tool and provide the correct part. They will be producing high volume as soon as all issues are dealt with.
