I don't know if they will take first over-all, but i'd bet an electric puts in the top 3.

this race could be converted to Electrics and plug in Hybrids.
The Tesla Roadster and Model S are plenty capable, and it would serve as a reason to add superchargers out there.

done properly it should have counter-rotating drums to neutralize that.

Let us say the cost of a charger is $750 bought in bulk, and the cost to install in public areas would be another 1200, it's some 2 grand to install a charger.
Say teh grants are matching funds, and the federal tax credit still applies,
the grants could be some $600/charger, and that would match both the federal credit and the local investment.
that means every 20 cars, one public charger would get a grant.
a little thin, if the state could match this with the general revenue.
then, it would be a good fit, but, it's a start

I have a 2010 Honda Insight, it's a very good car.
I don't know why Honda can't sell them, it's something in the marketing,
or product touch.
technically to me, it's gorgeous, but, it's real complicated. Lots of switches and buttons everywhere, it's like piloting an F-16,

i think they need to break it up, Have a vehicle tax, per vehicle, then a mileage tax, adjusted by weight and then a gas tax. The real problem is people are buying high mileage cars, the fleet economy is shooting up and people are
stopping driving high mileage cars or are car pooling more. Annual vehicle miles is headed down and the fleet efficiency is headed up, that's an iron vise for gas tax revenues.

The ELR has a real potential to be a good seller. Caddy owners don't shop price
and if the Voltec gives good performance it should sell

but it means you need more swap stations, you need stations on the other side of town, not, on the motorway.

actually, all you really need is customers who on average do 160-200 Miles per day.
if the Battery is good for 150 miles, if you do less then that in a day, then, you can work from a home charger and do a days work every day, but the moment you start to get north of 150, well, now you start losing productivity. If you even do 160 miles, well a quick swap means you get to finish the days work. I'd say there is a decent market in people who do 150-200 miles/day. See at 300 miles, and 50 MPH, you are really driving most of the day, so that's drive 3 hours out, drop a cargo, drive back to base. But at 200 miles, that's drive an hour, pickup, drive an hour, drop, drive an hour pickup, drive an hour drop, Lot more customers there.
