Just curious, Chfhelin, did you drive with other teens on board? Or did your Dad clamp down and issue restrictions? When I was growing up, I was lucky to get any time behind the wheel of the family sedan. My parents were ultra-conservative. Either that or they just didn't want me behind the wheel, my straight-A's in school notwithstanding.

Interesting comment, Cfthelin. But, wouldn't that cut down on the driver's rear visibility? Also, what if the child decided chewing on Styrofoam was a good idea? Your suggestion gave me a laugh, anyway. Thanks.

I absolutely loved the Ram SuperBowl spot. When I lived in Chicago, we always listened to Paul Harvey on the radio, usually when we were on the road to Lake Geneva or downtown or out and about elsewhere in the Illinois-Wisconsin-Minnesota countryside. Ram is to be commended for its creativity, appeal to our patriotism and work ethic and all-around good citizenship. This is an ad I'll never get tired of seeing. Bravo, Ram!

Bobcat, thanks for the compliment. Now for your question. I've passed along your comments to the folks who have responsibility for the website, but haven't heard back about the "print button" suggestion. You can, however, use your cursor and mouse button to highlight the areas of text you want, then copy and paste it to a word document. It's not elegant, but it does work. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts and keep reading The Car Connection.

Thanks for bringing the subject of LPRs to light. Anyone watching the CBS program Person of Interest can probably relate to the potential abuses of them if strict and enforceable standards aren't put into place soon.

John - Amen to that. And dawn and dusk are the most dangerous times for hoofed animal-vehicle close encounters.

Dawn - Thanks for the question, and it's a good one. For source, click on the link in the story above "safety technology features" that appears in #5 - side curtain airbags. James Bell, head of General Motors consumer affairs gave us an interview at the 2012 New York Auto Show, where he talked about the specific safety development of side curtain airbags at GM -- which protect people as well as pets. Thanks for your question.

Hy Per - You certainly know how to treat your Shi Tzu well. Looking at the estimates of "owned" dogs (and cats), it would certainly appear that there are a lot of vehicle owners who also have pets -- at least one, at that. Thanks for the additions.
