No official data yet Xiaolong, so I didn't want to speculate either way, but the company does say the car will have airbags and suitable side-impact features etc.

Tom - driving five under is hardly the most extreme of hypermiling techniques, and a long way from being the most dangerous.

I think you've missed the point of that sentence, Doug.

The engineer said she drove 900 miles on a tank. Not extrapolated it, not calculated, simply 900 miles from point A to point B. My wording assumes she didn't drive 901 miles and then run out of diesel, so the actual MPG is likely more than the 58 mpg I calculated by dividing distance by tank gallons.

Mark, I'm curious to know how you deem it "not responsible journalism". Whether the second half of the video uses "screenshots stolen from owners' forums" or not, they are still - presumably - actual shots of a Model S display taken by actual Model S owners.

It might be irresponsible to post something completely fabricated, but unless you have evidence to the contrary (and you're welcome to provide it, as we're always happy to amend mistakes), the screens seem perfectly legitimate to me.

I think the batteries technically belong to Renault, Better Place just has the system in place to swap them. If BP folds, I assume Renault will still be able to provide aftersales service.

Hi Jim,

I did omit info about the charger but we were eager to highlight the driving impressions mainly, having written about the technical aspects on previous occasions.

You're right, the "chameleon" charger used by the Zoe is an excellent idea that saves the need to look for specific chargers or drag cables around.

You're also right that what it can't do is plug into a regular wall socket, which I suspect is for safety. However, this won't be a problem with many owners at home, since Renault is providing free charging points to owners (in the UK at least, where we tested the car).
