Commented On: Ilmor Engineering Shows Off 5-Stroke Engine Concept

Motor Authority 16,148 Views 9 comments
seems to me at 120hp for 700cc, theyve already gotten 150hp/L

another interesting idea....... that will never be adopted. the OEMs would rather work with forced induction.. an advanced ad sophisticated technology, but one that is proven. Ilmor will have to prove the engine tech with a smaller firm before anyone else will even bother looking. its the same song and dance.

very smart idea really. a good driver will know basic emergency response, and you cant get much faster than the GTR. just the fact that the thing is relatively cheap and aparently extremely easy to drive just makes it that much better for a response vehicle.

i cant imagine that a chopper would be able to respond faster given landing and takeoff times.

saabfan.. typical import lovers comments.

yeah no ones going to drive their car through that much gravel....... in one day... but over the life of the car? hell yeah.

yeah thats right.. "Ford stealing sale from Lexus, uh...uh... not." you realize 30 years ago thats what everyone said about japanese brands in america right? and now everyone is saying that about hyundai... "who would ever get a hyundai over anything else?" ill tell you who: those people who would rather pay 26 thousand dollars for a car instead of 70 thousand for a similar car.

the lexus brand name isnt worth nearly 50k.

if the car magazines review the taurus as well has theyve been reviewing fords other new products such as the fusion and the edge, you'll be seeing a lot of tauruses on the road.

NND, a hybrid 911 is exactly what the world needs. we need performance hybrids to get rid of the mentality that hybrids can only be boring cars.

there lies no middle ground between a vehicle that does everything it can to react as best as possible to the drivers commands and a vehicle with drives itself.

either make the best traction control systems you can by looking at four wheel angular position, yaw pitch and roll, steering angle, etc.... or make a car that can drive itself.

nothing inbetween.

this makes up for the last decade of bad news from ford with seemingly good news from the rest of the industry. im so glad to see that ford is pulling through finally.

mullaly... i dont know what youve done but you deserve every penny of your pay cheque.

brum.. fiesta with that would be a death trap... i like it.

but yeah.. a new high trim focus with 230 hp would be really friggen nice. we need hot hatches in NA. get the dads with heavy right foots into a smaller car with just as much oomf.

and give us youngins a fun car to thrash too :D

Motor Authority 5,507 Views 7 comments
ok.. guys.. you need to learn some simple math. 525hp*746 = 391kW.

at 48kWh, 48/391=0.122 hr = 7.4 minutes

so at full power, it will be done in 7.4 minutes.

but then again.. remember its a high performance car. clarkson talks about how his GT could only do 50 miles or what ever to a tank.

this is huge. if gm puts the two mode hybrid system into a small car.. its going to leave the prius for dead.

toyota... look out.

Motor Authority 13,398 Views 41 comments
yep, NND is right. the G8 is selling very well. its the only desirable pontiac right now and one of the few GM products i would have bought even when they were bankrupt.

I understand that RWD is an automatic loss of a couple MPG just from the loss in the drive shaft but I think if america can figure out a relatively economical technology to bring RWD inline with FWD, you'll see a renewal of "American motoring".

It's the one thing i hope ford can figure out when they finally do kill the Crown. GM and Chrysler need to keep their RWD big sedans. Germany cant hit the price point and japan doesnt make a large RWD car for that price either.
