I too live down under and i feel your pain.
Prices here are just so damn expensive compared to what everyone else pays.
But are you sure the XJ is gonna cost $400k??
My dad just bought his 750LI fully optioned for approx $360k....so the Jag starts at 400k?

Everyone is missing the point here.
Its going to cost the same as a Toyota and Honda!
Although i apose BMW getting cheaper and cheaper they are doing so and in a very trendy fashion.
I think the interior of this X1 is superb compared to most cars.
The design lines in the interior-(doors, air con vents etc) are fantastic and flow. The exterior.....I like the shape of the car and the front is nice. Not a fan of the rear lights.
We are judging the car as a BMW and although we are right to do so we need to keep in mind that it is cheap, its an entry level toyota-honda competitor and in my mind a great car.

P.S- I dont like what BMW is doing here, id rather more premium cars keeping with the prestige of the brand rather then X1's......

Gus my dad to had an 2002 S430 but traded it in for a 745LI with the individual package which ment he had 20inch wheels. Although the wheels were harder to drive on then the standered wheels they completed a great look for the car. Something which didnt mean a great deal to my dad but pleased me.
When testing the new 750LI his car had 20inch optioned wheels and the "active steering thingy" option. He could not belive the difference of the ride of the car due to this option! The 20inch wheels felt nimble and as good as the standered ones.
He now has his new 750LI with beautiful BMW 20inch wheels and is very happy.

On the note of the M pack above, i my self am very disapointed. Doesnt look near as good as i would have expected. Dont like the wheels and too much chrome. Looks cheap. I have to give it to merc, i do love their AMG kits' on the S-class better.
