I prefer an estate to a sedan, if offered. However, why do all the premium European estate makers insist on a slanted rear hatch instead of something more upright?



I think its to do with aerodynamic efficiency - the old upright rear end causes a lot of turbulent air and can cause an effect on economy whereas the sloped rear end means the airflow across the rear is pulled more in to a point and therefore reduces drag / turbulence

Rear end to me looks to me like the lights off a Citroen C6 and the boot of a Maserati Quattroporte with just a dash of Bentley Continental thrown in - I like it, imagines a black XJ supersport with all chrome grilles looming up behind me - moves over pretty sharpish.

The front looks like it will need cleaning daily in the autumn ( Fall ) as it will be sucking leaves like a demon.

The centre console below the sat nav screen is so full of buttons it just looks like someone filled their nose with the switches and sneezed them into position

Correct me if I am wrong but isnt the Koenisegg (sp) the fastest 'roadster' as that has a removable targa roof like the GrandSport and was actually topless when it was pulled over during a Gumball at over 230 mph ?

second question, if VW and Audi are in the same corporation, why would they want cars from the same parent competeing against each other, isn't that over-lap and such?

If that was the case they wouldnt of been selling the passat and the audi a4 ( audi 80 as it was ) side by side for years, nor would they be selling the audi R8 and any Lamborghinis alongside each other. But as all car companies are run by accountants then this will continue to happen as more variations on the same sector of cars from companires all owned by a sole parent means more profits.
