This is old news, when GM got the first bailout money, the bush administration let it be known that bankruptcy may be necessary, but they would defer to the next administration.

Diesels don't appear to be the answer. The fuel and the cars are overpriced with little if any reduction in green house gases.

Chrysler needs a small car and the 500 looks like a winner. The sebring needs a redo. I wonder whats in the pipe line at fiat. The challenger and the 300 look good on the out side, but i've never looked inside or drove them. The caliber is awful. The T&C/caravan needs some reengineering and styling help. The ferrari v8 in the challenger would be great, but hemi V8s are also nice.

Before M&B came along Chrysler was profitable, had reliable cars, had four divisions and had high fleet MPG. When M&B "and their engineers" got done with them, reliability dropped, was not profitable, lost market share, engineering was terrible and the cars became ugly and inefficient.

I hope Fiat isn't as bad as M&B was with business, planning and engineering. Chrysler won't survive another merger of equals.
