About Christy Brewer
Although a stereotypical soccer mom would have been ideal for the Family Car Guide, none exist. So, Christy steps in with her unique blend of art, cars and kids to help review and rate today's best vehicles. She learned a bit about the auto industry and racing growing up with a dad who rebuilt cars on the weekends. In high school, she was the only one with small-enough hands to reach in and notch the timing chain back into place on a '68 Impala, and once thought she could align all the rings on a piston and (hah!) hold them in place long enough to get them all back into the cylinder. All grown up, Christy wrote about vehicle techology and fuel sources for GM's K-12 education web site, and created games to test students' retention. Her favorite automotive topics are alternative fuels, carbon footprints and how cars are built much more sustainably now than in the past. She tried writing about mortgages for a while, but just had to return to the rumble of an internal combustion engine. She wonders if electric cars will need a soundtrack.
