New York Times Cites GreenCarReports Editor John Voelcker
Quick Friday hit. Our man of green, and editor of GreenCarReports, was quoted in the The New York Times today as a source on future green-car technology.
John provided his views on the evolution of hybrid battery technology from today’s nickel-metal-hydride to a lithium-ion future. (Not for the faint of heart or small of mind).
Check out the story on the Hyundai’s effort to make the Sonata more fuel efficient in freeway driving (most hybrids do better on city streets).
You can also read John’s story on the Sonata Hybrid’s intro at the 2010 New York Auto Show as well as all of GreenCarReports’ coverage of the Sonata Hybrid.

International Motor Press Association Taps High Gear Media’s John Voelcker
Photo: Joe NuxollHGM Senior Editor and green-car journalist John Voelcker was elected today to the Board of Directors of the International Motor Press Association. His election marks one of the few times an online journalist has served in that position.
The International Motor Press Association is this country’s oldest organization of automotive journalists and public relations professionals. The group was founded 50 years ago and today includes journalists from print, TV and — our bailiwick — the Web.
In the same election, online journalist Mike Spinelli was elected president of the Association. Voelcker and Spinelli are already planning IMPA’s first kegger, and the pair plan to propose a memo on the appropriate use of profanity in online journalism. Voelcker also plans mandatory hybrid driving courses for all IMPA members in good standing.
Kidding aside, its a great honor. You can follow John’s work at GreenCarReports.com

Video: GCR’s John Voelcker Live On Autoline At The Detroit Show
We told you about Marty Padgett’s earlier studio appearance on Autoline. GreenCarReports Editor John Voelcker made it a High Gear Media two-fer — doing a live segment while walking the Detroit Auto Show floor.

Photo by Joe Nuxoll.John went mobile from the COBO Center floor, walking and talking with Autoline host John McElroy as they chatted Tesla, engineering and finally, John’s take on how electric car adoption will ultimately happen. The clip doesn’t get too far before John dazzles with a quick discussion of flywheel technology. (FYI, no one chats flywheel like Voelcker.)
Check out a clip from the conversation below (it goes a little over 8 minutes). You can always follow the latest on green and electric cars from John and the rest of our team at GreenCarReports and AllCarsElectric.
