High Gear Media’s “2010 Tesla Roadster Roadtest” Contest Winner Announced

Recently, High Gear Media posed a challenge to its community of automotive contributors and enthusiasts from around the world: write a story about cars, and we’ll pick the best one, fly the winning writer out to California to test drive a 2010 Tesla Roadster, and provide an exclusive opportunity to interview a Tesla designer.

The winner, Bruce Richter, was more than up for the challenge and contest winnings (check out Bruce’s winning entry here)!

From High Gear Media Editorial Director Marty Padget’s coverage:

Richter came to us in the new way of the media world–not from another magazine or TV channel, but through our High Gear Media homepage. An advertising writer and creative director from New York, Bruce definitely has some pro-sumer writing chops. He’s worked on ad campaigns for Jaguar, Volvo, American Express and Fortune Magazine. There’s enthusiasm in his system, too: he’s currently on his third used BMW M3 and sometimes favors an “ugly Duc” Ducati Multistrada–and somewhere in his past there’s a dark chapter involving a VW GTI, Lime Rock, and what his wife calls the car’s “total nervous breakdown” at the track.

Bruce flew out to Menlo Park, California on Wednesday and joined Padget and the High Gear Media team to check out the Tesla Motors facility, interview Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen, and take a 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport out on a test drive along Silicon Valley’s famous Sand Hill Road and into gorgeous Bay Area peninsula hills.

Here’s Bruce hanging out with Ricardo Reyes, VP Communications at Tesla, before the test drive:
